OUR STORY

Vintage photo of a busy Parisian street from August 1978 with parked cars and pedestrians against a backdrop of classic architecture.

Cracked Film Lab was founded in 2021 by Jaymie Belknap, a professional film photographer whose passion for photography began in childhood. Jaymie’s journey with film started early. Film wasn’t something she discovered later—it was the medium she grew up with, forming the foundation of her craft.

By high school, Jaymie’s passion for photography deepened. With little to no local resources for development, She taught herself the art of developing film, making her bathroom into a makeshift darkroom. That first experience of seeing negatives come to life ignited a lifelong love for both the art and science of photography.

Jaymie created Cracked Film Lab as a resource for friends and family as a small way to serve Spokane’s growing film photography community. Over time, this passion project evolved, and at the start of 2025, Cracked Film Lab became a full-fledged film lab. We understand the value of a reliable lab that treats every roll of film with the same care and pride as the photographer who shot it. With a commitment to quality, education, and accessibility, we ensure that Cracked Film Lab provides a level of service Jaymie once wished for as a film photographer. Our mission is to nurture the resurgence of film photography and support the artists who keep it alive.
